Did you Know these Thanksgiving Traditions? Bizzlibrary

Thanksgiving, a famous festival in America, is all about celebrating the life, culture, and contributions of Native Americans to America. Although, we can now observe it in many other countries like Canada. While it might be merely a holiday for some people and in American history, it is much more than a holiday.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the past year and how you have made it through it. It is a day to give thanks for all you have and take stock of your strengths, resources, and everything you are appreciative of. This holiday is all about getting together with friends and family. People usually send thanksgiving day invitations to their close relatives, gather together, eat delicious food, and give thanks for all they have in their lives. It is also about honoring those who helped us get here—whether through favors from long ago or just being our friend.

Traditions for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time to cherish with family, friends, and all you are thankful for. Traditions around thanksgiving vary from family to family, but some things are standard across many families.

Turkey Day

The most important tradition at Thanksgiving is turkey. Turkey is the most consumed meat in the USA on thanksgiving day. The day is sometimes also referred to as Turkey Day. The reason to slaughter a turkey on this day is that a single turkey is enough to feed the whole family. Apart from this, other traditional foods eaten on this day are pumpkin pie stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce.

People send thanksgiving lunch invitations to their relatives and eat & celebrate the day together. They eat all the feasts altogether when family and relatives gather in one place.

Make a Wish

The other tradition on Thanksgiving day is to make a wish by breaking a wishbone. Well, through this tradition, you use a turkey bone, usually V-shaped. Then two people hold the wishbone from either side and make a wish. Then they break the bone and whoever gets the longer part of the bone gets the wish.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade is one of the most famous parades in the world, with a long history and a bright future. It is held on the Thursday after Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday of November) and has been televised in New York City since 1924. The parade is modeled after a similar event in Philadelphia and created to promote Macy's department store.

The parade consists of marching band members, cheerleaders, floats (including floats decorated by Disney characters that travel through Central Park), and marching bands from around the country. There are also thousands of dancers and clowns who perform throughout the day before and after the parade.

Football - Watch or Play

Football is a sport that brings people together, and Thanksgiving Day football is no exception.

The day is a great time to enjoy football, and there is no better tradition than watching your favorite team play on Thanksgiving Day. If your family knows how to play football, you can even organize a game in your garden or at a nearby playground. It is a fantastic way to spend quality time with family and friends.

Help People

The day is considered the most helpful day of the year. People donate to local charities or even volunteer for charities to help people. Apart from this, they ask their guests to bring packed food and some clothes so that they donate these items to charities. A small contribution to help the people can make a huge difference. In fact, many charities collect non-perishable goods and give them to the people who are in need.

Play Games

The last thing people do to celebrate the beginning of this holiday season is by playing games. Charades, card games, board games, dice games, and puzzles are a great yearly tradition that requires little to no planning or thought. Also, they play a guessing game. They play the game by writing what they are thankful for on a slip of paper. Then, they put all the slips in a jar. Later, everyone takes turns and draws one slip out and guesses who put which thanks into the jar.

Finally, thanksgiving is an important day in American culture. It is generally the most awaited holiday in the country. And if you are thinking of celebrating this day with your friends and family, invite them to your place. To do so, you will need an invitation card. Do not worry. Writing an invitation is now a piece of cake for everyone. You can download the thanksgiving invitation template online. The next thing you will do is to customize the same accordingly. Lastly, send this letter to the people you want to celebrate the day with and enjoy.
